Dorthy Violet Diede, daughter of Arthur and Mary (Huber) Diede, was born on her family farm near Utica, SD on March 10, 1918. She grew up in the area and attended school there. On December 16, 1939 she married Andrew Holzwarth in Yankton, SD. The couple farmed near Freeman, SD and Sumner, IA for several years before moving to Sioux Falls in 1963.
While in Sioux Falls, Dorthy worked for the Sioux Falls School District in the lunch program for 15 years. They were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Andrew passed away on January 13, 1982.
Survivors include her children, Ella May Kelly, Sioux Falls, Betty Helmich and her husband, Fred, Lawton, IA, Allen Holzwarth and his wife, Mary, Denver, CO, Donald Holzwarth and his wife, Diane Lund, Minnetonka, MN, and Ramona Adams and her husband, Bob, Yankton, SD; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister, Leona Janda; and brother, Harold Diede, both of Yankton, SD.
Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary; husband, Andrew; and brothers, Ernest, Art and Floyd.
