Mildred Amanda Jacobson, daughter of Adolph and Ivertha (Peterson) Jacobson, was born April 11, 1915 in Brandon, SD. She grew up there and graduated from Brandon High School.

Mildred was united in marriage with Frank Kerkhove on November 19, 1937 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple lived in the Brandon area for a time, but spent most of their married life in Valley Springs, SD. In 2004, Mildred moved to Helping Hand Assisted Living in Brandon. She moved to Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls in 2007.

Mildred was a member of First Lutheran Church, Valley Springs, and active in WELCA there. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mildred was an avid walker and also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Grateful for having shared her life are three children, George Kerkhove and his wife, Linda, Green Oaks, IL, Jerry Kerkhove, Centennial, CO, Gloria Bonjour and her husband, Jon, Clarinda, IA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, on May 9, 1990; her parents; two brothers, Julius and Alf Jacobson; and four sisters, Freda Busby, Hilda Malmind, Mathilda Jacobson and Nettie Sandstrom.
