Joan Frances Wright, daughter of George and Helene (Shonsbye) Wright, was born July 25, 1938 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in the Rowena, SD area. Joan graduated from Brandon High School in 1956 prior to attending Nebraska Wesleyan College, Lincoln, NE. She then worked for a time with Northwestern Bell Telephone.

In August of 1959, Joan married Ron Nelson in Sioux Falls, where she worked for several years at Augustana College. She later worked in the office of Dr. Buck Williams. Joan and Buck were united in marriage on March 1, 1977 in Sioux Falls. After retirement, Joan and Buck retired to Arizona. In the summers they enjoyed spending time with family in the Black Hills.

Grateful for having shared her life are two children, Mike Nelson, Dell Rapids, SD, Nicki Nelson, Central, UT; two grandchildren, Gentry and Sadie Waller; four step-children, Jim Williams, Victoria Hartman, John Williams and Mike Williams; five step-grandchildren, Morgan, Rachel and Evan Hartman, Reece and Jasper Williams; six siblings, Russell Wright and his wife, Pat, Brandon, SD, Richard Wright and his wife, Nina, Yankton, SD, Noel Finley, Bloomington, MN, Dennis Wright and his wife, Deanna, Royal Oak, MI, Carol Archer, Brandon, SD, Jack Wright, Brandon, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Buck, on July 2, 2009; and her parents.
