Sioux Falls, SD- Harry T. Madsen, 80, died on Thursday July 29, 2010, after a lengthy battle with heart disease.

A memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Arrangements by George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, SD.

Harry was born on April 12, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN to Theodor and Olga (Christiansen) Madsen. In 1936 his family moved to Zimmerman, MN and he received his education there. Harry was united in marriage with Yvonne Ostrom in November of 1962 in Princeton, MN. Their family moved to Willmar, MN in the fall of 1968. Harry was employed at Nelson International for roughly two years, and then began working at Central Sheet Metal followed by Magnuson Sheet Metal. He was a member of the Assemblies of God Church in Willmar where he was active in Royal Rangers, choir and ushering. He lived in Pennsylvania for a short time but returned to the Midwest in April of this year to be close to family. He loved country music and took several trips to Branson, MO to enjoy concerts. He had also helped out at the Senior Center in setting up for meals as well as knit hats for the homeless. Harry made friends easily and made an impact wherever he went.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two daughters, Lyn Amy Mock and her husband, Jason of Sioux Falls, SD, and Lisa Salem and her husband, Hythem of Telford, PA; eight grandchildren, Timothy and Anthony Wirtz, Joseph, Sophia, Jake, Sam Julianne and Selene Salem; three sisters, Harriet Olson of Elk River, MN, Helen Kerger of Oceanside, CA, and Hannah Ostby and her husband, Roger of Elk River, MN; brother, Harlan Madsen of Phoenix, AZ. Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Theodor and Olga Madsen; daughter, LaVonne Madsen; brother, Harold and sister, Helga.
